We are in the process of creating individual Mathematica notebooks that will contain the code used to create examples in the text. In this way, text examples become "alive" - that is, users of the text can simply download the example notebook and reproduce the results for themselves. In many cases, the text author would like to further expand on an example in a dynamic way in which a book simply does not allow. For this reason, many of the notebook file links contain suggestions for changing the example to see different results or to further emphasize the ideas the example is trying to promote.
Once the examples are posted on this site as Mathematica notebooks, we will port them to Matlab and then finally to Maple worksheets. All examples will require the installation of the packages that appear on this site. Please check back during the winter/spring 2006 as this page will progressively update.
In this example, we learn how use the CAS to compute inner products.
