New URCS deadlines imminent for travel and summer housing!

1. All students intending to apply for TRAVEL SUPPORT in order to present collaborative research at a meeting THIS FISCAL YEAR (before June 30, 2005) must indicate their intention to do so by April 15th, 2005 (NEXT FRIDAY). The application instructions are available at the URCS website. Advisors should instruct students to contact me by that date, or advisors may contact me directly about students that will be applying for support. Please contact me by email at Jennifer Cruise .

Most decisions about meeting attendance prior to June 30 have already been made, and the (small amount of) remaining funds not earmarked for travel assistance by April 15 will be used to support Young Scholars Awards and summer housing for students doing research on campus.

2. All students requesting SUMMER HOUSING to do collaborative research with faculty must submit an application by April 15th, 2005 (NEXT FRIDAY). Application forms are extremely brief and are available at the URCS website. They must be received in my office or at my campus mailbox (OWS390) by 5PM.

With the end of the current cycle of Bush Grant funding, every effort is being made to provide housing to students who require it, but it may not be possible to fill all requests this year.

These deadlines are close, but each only requires a confirmation of need, rather than an extensive application process. We are struggling to find funds to support students this summer, and need to have a clear picture of what all our needs are in order to do it. Thanks for your assistance and understanding as we grapple with it.
